S.Grand Gems was established in 1973 in Bangkok
for the import of precious
and semi precious stones from Jaipur, India which for centuries had enjoyed
the privilege of being the main gem cutting center of India. A huge variety
of rough stones such as Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires, Topaz, Quartz, Moonstone
etc. were imported from various countries around the world to be cut and polished
in Jaipur for re-export.
The Company started importing a varietyof stones, mosly cut emeralbs from Jaipur for sale to the local jewellers in Bangkok as well as the factories making gem studded jewelry for export. The economic growth in Thailand helped S.Grand Gems become the leading supplier of Emeralds in the country, which over the years had turned into one of the major gem & jewelry centers of the world.
With the economic growth of Thailand in the 1980’s demand for better quality and more expensive Emeralds also grew. The company started importing superior goods from Columbia and Brazil, and to this day continues to stand as the largest wholesaler of cut-emeralds in the Thai market.
The Emeralds we carry come from renowned mines including Muzo, Coscuez, Chivor, Gachala, Port Artino and La Pita of Colombia, offering diverse grades of stones. Our Emeralds from Brazil are mined largely in the Minas Gerais state.
